Thoughts on Microsoft School of the Future

     After watching the news segment via YouTube on Microsoft School of the Future, thoughts and strategy are of concerns.  Microsoft School of the Future opened in September 7, 2006, at West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  It has a reputation of being a rough part of town as per The News Hour with Jim Lehrer news segment via YouTube.  The school is built on a former park land.  Nevertheless, everybody that is living there are excited about it according to Tom the correspondent for The News Hour.
    First, my thoughts about the Microsoft School of the Future varied.  The first thought after hearing about it blew me off my feet.  A sixty two million school that is built where crime rate was high may not be the right place.  However, I think giving a place like this an opportunity is something for the community to look up to especially for the future of the kids.  As per Tom the correspondent, I think the students that were selected by lottery of fifteen thousand applicants are very thankful, honored, and blessed to be a part of history and the future.  Also I think this is my ideal school for students.  Ideal in a sense of being up to par with technology and learning at the same time.
     Next, which strategy works best when considering a new school?  Sixty two million model school of the future is a bit too much, however its for the benefit of the students, then why not.  This is a model school that can be utilized in the future and will replace books to sharpening a pencil one day.  Also with a new school built the structure of the building is more update than the older schools allowing Internet installation convenient.  Putting a lot of money in one school especially a model school is looking into the future.
     In all, I think the Microsoft School of the Future is great.  I also think its a trial and error school.  They can learn from it and make it even better for the future.  At the same time student achievement will be brought to the highest level of Bloom's Taxonomy which will prepare them to be "top scientists, top mathematicians, and top problem solvers, " according to Shirley Grover, Chief Learner, School of the Future.  Shirley added, "Its a life line to learning."
